Armchair BEA- Best Books of 2012

Hey! Good to see you again! I hope everyone had a great time yesterday getting to know everyone else in the blogosphere. Today I will be sharing with you some of my favorite reads of 2012 (so far)!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
I really am not much of a fan of fantasy novels, but for some reason the world Mrs. Taylor created caught my attention. Not to mention I loved Karou and her quirky personality.

Birthmarked by Caragh M. O'Brien
This was one of my first ventures into Dystopia (besides The Hunger Games) and I completely fell in love with Gaia and her crazy society! The book was action packed and had romantic qualities that made it a winner for me!

Across the Universe by Beth Revis
Oh. My. Goodness. I cannot even fangirl enough about this book! I totally adored the sci-fi elements and the crazy corruptness of this book. On top of that, it was so unique. I have never read a book about a space ship society. This book caught my attention and didn't let go until the last sentence.

The Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney
I read this book early on in the year, and I totally adored Daisy Whitney's writing. This book provided a great voice for rape awareness, and I absolutely adored the characters, especially Alex, the rape victim. It was especially real because the author was an actual rape victim, rather than someone that just researched it.

Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks
This book was a rare case that I read adult fiction, and I must say I should do it more often. I fell in love with Spark's books after reading The Guardian in 6th grade. I was an addict ever since. This book was another great specimen that added a voice about domestic violence. The writing was so life-like that I felt like I was in the book, rather than a spectator. I highly recommended this book to all of my friends, and every single one has enjoyed it!

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
I recently completed this book, and you have no idea how much I adored this book and Juliette. The concept in this book was so unique that I totally gravitated towards it. I loved all of the quirky little details and the overall love story. Not to mention the cover is absolutely GORGEOUS! I want that dress.

What books have you enjoyed so far in 2012?

  1. Some well-known books there. I guess they get well-known because they're so good.

My reading taste is different, but check out my giveaway, maybe there is something you'd like; http://leeswammes.wordpress.com/2012/06/05/armchair-bea-day-2-favorite-books-and-giveaway/

  2. I really liked Daughter of Smoke and Bone!! It was such a unique twist on fantasy, and I was totally hooked when I read it too. The world-building was definitely amazing, I totally agree with that! I really enjoyed Shatter Me as well, and the author is totally hilarious on Twitter. You definitely read some great books so far this year, McKenna!

Have fun during the rest of Armchair BEA! =)

  4. Great list! Most of the ones you chose are either on my bookshelf (have read and loved), on my nightstand (waiting to be devoured), or on my TBR shelf (Why aren't there more hours in the day?). I loved Shatter Me (I have an unhealthy obsession with Warner- and apparently parentheses... even though I really adore Adam) and DoSaB!

I hope you have a great BEA-filled week!
